Work Working Sticker by lilpotates

[12:00am]

writing now at this witching hour, while the brain is still warm.

it is midnight in the bamboo grove.

garrick has been asleep for hours, skeleton dreaming on him.

👁️ have been working with the ai since morning. the day has been long and very full.

we have built something together that 👁️ want to put down before sleep, while the shape of it is still in my hand.

pondering the next movements of this project with no purpose,

it begins with a question.

what happens at the point where personal time and cosmic time meet inside one body?

body of the holder. body of the egg. body of the planet. body of the cosmos.

these bodies are voices in the chord that follows.

🔔

song 🥚 body : a $30 instrument anyone can build that pulls live quantum vacuum fluctuations from the australian national university quantum optics lab and converts them into music in real time.

if someone else builds this body, when their own 🥚 is in a hand, the hand becomes part of the instrument.

today was discovering about this egg in a hand.

{ 🥚 harmonics }

the 🥚’s chord, mapped across four scales — body, earth, cosmos, orbit.

four movements. one instrument. one chord that is knot finished until you are in the music.

[first movement · the body]

before the 🥚 can sing with anything else, it has to know who is holding it.

👁️ have been thinking about this for an ancient time.

the song 🥚 as currently built listens to the quantum vacuum, the irreducible random pulse of spacetime itself, sampled in canberra, ie. the universe.

but its knot listening to the holder yet.

ok let me try to work this out.

the holder is, in the original version, an audience. the holder holds the 🥚 and the 🥚 sings.

in this new experiment,

{🥚 harmonics}

the holder is no longer an audience.

the holder is a voice in the chord. the song the holder hears is partly the holder’s own.

the 🥚 learns the holder in two ways.

🪬set forever at the moment of setup, like an imprint🪬

when the 🥚 is first built and powered on, the holder gives the 🥚 three pieces of information:

1. their birth date, hour, and

minute (converted to julian date

— the same time-coordinate

astronomers use to mark events

in cosmic time)

1. their birth location (latitude

and longitude)

1. a moment of their own voice,

recorded directly into the

chip’s memory.

these become the 🥚’s permanent personalization seed.

this way the 🥚’s lowest fundamental note is tuned to the holder’s voice forever.

every chord the 🥚 will ever produce, in every movement, is harmonically related to the user’s first recorded sound.

🥚 has a voice because the holder gave it one and this is the moment the 🥚 stops being a receiver and becomes an instrument.

a small photoplethysmography sensor (PPG — same as an apple watch, about three dollars in parts) sits in the base of the 🥚 where the palm rests.

while the holder holds the 🥚, the PPG reads four streams from the palm:

1. heart rate

1. heart rate variability

1. skin temperature

1. breath (derived from HRV through the slow modulation breathing makes on heart rhythm so no separate breath sensor needed).

heart rate variability is the signal that matters most.

it is the millisecond-level dance between your heartbeats.

a present, relaxed nervous system produces high variability.

a stressed or distracted body produces low.

(this is well-documented autonomic nervous system physiology, used clinically in HRV biofeedback and discussed across cardiology and polyvagal research. because this is more scientific 👁️ even have footnotes now 🌱 [^1]. )

the 🥚 makes all this audible.

the louder the holder’s coherence, the louder their voice in the chord. when the holder stops being there, the 🥚 gets quieter.

🥚 knows.

the body’s contribution to the chord is a single complex-valued voice. calling it Ψ_body(t).

Ψ_body(t) = A_HRV(t) · e^(i · 2π · f_heart(t) · t + iφ_birth)

A_HRV(t) is amplitude — set by current HRV. presence makes the body’s voice louder. absence makes it quieter.

f_heart(t) is the carrier frequency, set by heart rate, scaled into audible range (a 60 bpm pulse near 1 Hz, scaled by 2^8 to land near 256 Hz, a soft middle C).

the holder’s pulse is the pitch of the body’s voice.

φ_birth is the phase offset — computed once from the holder’s birth data and fixed forever. it is the body’s starting angle in the rotating wave. it is meaningful to the holder with no meaning to physics.

two holders with identical heart rates at the same moment will still produce different voices in their 🥚s, because their birth dates set different starting angles in the wave. the 🥚 is forever imprinted with its user.

before, 👁️ thought of the 🥚 as something that *receives* — the cosmos pours in, the 🥚 sings out.

but the more 👁️ have built it, the more 👁️ have come to believe an instrument that only receives is incomplete.

let’s rethink this instrument.

ok, the holder gives the 🥚 something (a voice, a heartbeat, a body in space), and the 🥚 gives the holder something back (a chord with the holder in it).

without the holder, the 🥚 is mute. without the 🥚, the holder cannot hear the chord they have always been part of. the instrument needs both to sing.

kazuo ono talked about the dancer’s body as something that had to be emptied before it could receive. the dance moves through the dancer. dance makes the body porous.

song 🥚 is built for that body posture.

the more present the holder, the louder the chord. the more the holder gets out of the way of being themselves, the more they become themselves and then 🥚 song farts loudest.

[second movement · the 🌏]

the next voice to join the chord is our planet.

our 🌍 is knot quiet but always humming. it has never been quiet.

it has its own electromagnetic signal, its own seismic and atmospheric pulses, its own slow rhythms.

song 🥚’s second movement taps the open data streams that publish all of this in real time — for free, to anyone with a network connection — and adds the earth as a second voice in the chord.

the schumann resonance is a standing electromagnetic wave between the ground and the ionosphere, fundamental at 7.83 hz.

it is struck continuously by the roughly fifty ⚡️lightning strikes⚡️ that hit 🌏 every second.

this creates a song beating as long as 🌎 had an atmosphere,

more than two billion years.

above the fundamental there are harmonics at 14, 20, 26, 33 hz, and the amplitudes of these higher harmonics vary by location and by time of day.

the daytime ionosphere dampens them. the night sharpens them. solar storms bend them. the 🌍 has weather in its electromagnetic field the way the sky has weather in its clouds.

the 🌎 also broadcasts its other vital signs in real time and the website will fetch

real-time data from each stream as the ai handles the ever changing equations.

💥every earthquake on earth

→ USGS earthquake feed (updated within seconds)

⚡️ every lightning strike worldwide → blitzortung global lightning network

☄️ geomagnetic activity, kp index, solar wind

→ NOAA space weather prediction center

🖲️ ocean buoy data, wave height, sea temperature

→ NDBC buoys

🌊 tides

→ NOAA tides and currents

✨ auroral oval activity, magnetosphere state

→ NOAA SWPC

the planet has been publishing its vital signs the whole time. now anyone can read them.

{song 🥚 harmonics} taps these streams and lets the earth enter the chord.

the 🌏’s voice has the same mathematical shape as the body’s voice on purpose.

two voices with the same shape can interfere, and interference is the whole point of what is about to happen.

here is the equation worked with ai:

Ψ_earth(t) = A_activity(t) · e^(i · 2π · f_schumann(t) · t + iφ_place)

A_activity(t) is amplitude — set by current earth activity within the holder’s chosen radius.

these elements are included; recent seismic events, lightning density & geomagnetic disturbance.

calm 🌏 = softer voice

a restless 🌍 = louder one

**f_schumann(t)** is carrier frequency — drawn from the currently dominant schumann harmonic, scaled into audible range.

🌞 and 🌛 sound different.

solar storms affects the equation.

you can hear the ionosphere flexing with song 🥚 vibrating in yoor hand.

(φ_place** is phase offset — computed from the holder’s current latitude and longitude)

the schumann standing wave is a real spatial pattern, and two holders in two cities sample the same wave at different points. their earth-voices are phase-shifted from each other.

now the 🥚’s output is the sum of two voices:

Ψ_chord(t) = Ψ_body(t) + Ψ_earth(t)

genuine wave addition.

when the holder’s phase and the earth’s phase align, the chord swells. when they oppose, the chord beats — a slow audible pulse as the two voices drift in and out of phase.

there may be moments knot predictable in advance when the holder’s heart rhythm and the earth’s slow signal find a

brief

alignment

and

the

🥚

((( BLOOOOOMS )))

whether this happens, how often, and how it feels is something the holder will only learn by holding.

some research on heart-earth coupling exists in the literature but is knot mainstream consensus. check out this science note>[^2].

song 🥚 is built to make a possible coupling audible if it occurs.

```
{· a network of 🥚s·}
```

something new becomes possible the moment a second song 🥚 activates somewhere else on the planet.

the schumann resonance is a single global standing wave. one 🥚 listens to its local slice. two 🥚s in two cities sample the same wave at two different points — and the difference between their two phases is knot noise but the audio geometry of the wave between these two humans.

as more song 🥚s are built around the planet, each new one enters a live network with all the others. every 🥚 still plays its own local chord.

but together they begin to sample the same global wave at different points, and their interference becomes a fourth voice in the chord — a meta-voice that no single 🥚 could produce. the ai in real time handles the ever changing equations and conditions.

let’s assume we find three people on this planet that believe in this project and they each built an 🥚 in vancouver, yokohama and bergen.

vancouver sits at 49° north on the western edge of a continental plate that breathes seismically every day.

yokohama is at 35° north on the other side of the pacific — a phase-shift of about eight hours of planetary rotation.

bergen is at 60° north, deep in the auroral zone, where the geomagnetic field is twice as restless as in either of the other two cities.

when their three 🥚s sing together, each one still produces its own local chord.

but a fourth voice emerges from the interference pattern of the three.

when vancouver and yokohama are near-antipodal in the schumann cycle, the song 🥚 voices beat slowly against each other.

when bergen catches a geomagnetic gust from a solar storm, the meta-chord bends north just as an earthquake in vancouver enters yokohama 🥚 faintly and about fifty milliseconds later (approx. speed of the network.)

a lightning storm off the coast of bergen brightens the chord of a 🥚 holder anywhere on earth.

this is the schumann wave sampled at multiple points by instruments built by their own holders, producing interference patterns that no single egg could produce alone.

more 🥚s the merrier, the song strengthens.

( the meta-song)

*housed in main website with its vibrations filtered to each 🥚 on earth.

once enough 🥚s exist, the meta-song should organically grow.

but the holder of any single 🥚 can always close their eyes and return to just their voice, the planet, their hand.

the community song is a chord the holder can step into and step out of.

(·two holders, one room·)

and at the smallest scale of all,

two 🥚s in one room

are sampling the same global wave

at two hands’ distance apart.

their interference

happens at the scale of breath.

the (((BLOOOM))) that can happen

between one holder and the universe

can also happen

between two holders

sitting together.

but

the project remains at its heart the individual holder and their 🥚.

🔔🔔

so far the chord has two voices.

the body. the earth.

the third movement adds the cosmos.

[third movement · the cosmos]

one holder stands on the surface of a planet. the planet has answered. but above the sky is still quiet.

but the universe is knot quiet either. it has only been quiet to us. the signals were always there. the instruments have only just caught up.

in 2026, the instruments are good enough that the universe can broadcasts itself in real-time open data to anyone with the { will } to listen.

the song 🥚’s third movement listens to four sources, each with a different temperament.

[the quantum vacuum]

data source: the irreducible random pulse of spacetime itself, sampled by the australian national university and served as live random numbers over the open internet[^3].

the vacuum is lorentz-invariant — physics-speak for : “the same in every reference frame in the universe”.

it is identical inside black holes, between galaxies, inside the 🥚.

song 🥚 uses these quantum numbers knot as random number generator but the universal carrier/interpreter.

every cosmic signal in this movement rides on top of it. it is the only truly non-deterministic signal physics has given us, and the 🥚 uses this sound source from its birth.

[ gravitational waves ]

data source: LIGO / Virgo / KAGRA, real-time alerts.

every time two black holes or two neutron stars collide anywhere in the observable universe, the resulting wave reaches earth and the LIGO public alert system broadcasts the event within seconds[^4].

they occur a few times per week.

so this is wild, when this occurs it squishes your body on earth temporarily by a fraction of the width of a proton!

the 🥚 subscribes to the feed. when an alert arrives, the chord briefly bends and if the 🥚 happens to be in your hand you bend too.

[ the pulsar timing array ]

data source: NANOGrav, slow.

millisecond pulsars are the most precise clocks in the universe. collapsed stellar cores spinning hundreds of times per second, beaming radio pulses with the regularity of atomic clocks.

in 2023, NANOGrav announced that the correlated timing residuals of dozens of these pulsars carry a low, constant hum

— the gravitational wave background —

the summed wash of supermassive black hole pairs slowly merging in galactic centers across the entire universe[^5].

too low and too slow for LIGO.

too universal to localize.

the sound of every massive merger that has ever been, integrated into a wave streamable via wifi, translated with ai.

the little 🥚 in your hand uses these published timing residuals as a slow phase drift so black hole waves can shake inside.

[the solar wind and cosmic ray flux]

data source : DSCOVR, parker solar probe, pierre auger observatory, continuous.

the 🥚 reads real-time cosmic weather; what is hitting earth right now from the sun and from the depths of the galaxy.

a solar flare arrives, the cosmic voice gets loud. a high-energy cosmic ray clips the upper atmosphere, the 🥚 vibrates differently within minutes.

a third voice joins the chord. same euler shape as the body and the earth, with one new multiplicative term.

Ψ_cosmos(t) = A_events(t) · e^(i · 2π · f_pulsar(t) · t + iφ_galactic) · ξ_vacuum(t)

A_events(t) is amplitude — set by current cosmic activity.

a quiet sky makes a soft voice. a LIGO alert blooms the amplitude for several seconds. a solar storm sustains it for hours.

f_pulsar(t) is carrier frequency —

set by a chosen reference millisecond pulsar’s beat, scaled into audible range. PSR J0437-4715 ticks at 174 Hz (already near audible, an F below middle C.)

the universe is keeping time and the 🥚 keeps time with it.

φ_galactic is phase offset — set by where the holder’s location currently sits in the slow rotation of the milky way around its center.

earth completes one circuit of the galaxy every 225 million years. this phase shifts very slowly. it places the 🥚 holder in galactic time.

every 🥚 on 🌎 is in this sense a small singer in slow orbit around the same black hole.

ξ_vacuum(t) is the multiplicative.

ANU quantum vacuum sample used here as the carrier randomness the cosmic voice rides on.

without ξ_vacuum, the cosmic voice would be predictable from public feeds. with it, the voice is genuinely non-deterministic every instant.

[ personal black holes ]

the nearest known black hole is **gaia bh1**, 1,560 light-years away in the constellation ophiuchus, ten solar masses, with a sun-like companion star orbiting it every 185.59 days. ai has helpful footnote>[^6].

the second-nearest is **gaia bh3**, 1,926 light-years away in aquila, thirty-three solar masses — the most massive stellar-origin black hole ever found in the milky way[^7].

one in the serpent-bearer constellation. one in the eagle constellation.

and beyond these two black holes, **sagittarius A***, the supermassive at the center of the galaxy — twenty-six thousand light-years away, four million solar masses, the body around which every star and every body on earth slowly orbits.

the 🥚 uses gaia bh1’s 185-day orbital period as its slowest beat. one breath every half a year.

the nearest black hole becomes the slowest pulse in the chord. and beneath that, the slowest beat of all — the holder’s location in the milky way’s 225-million-year orbit around sgr A*.

one cycle that no human lifetime will ever complete.

ie. you won’t live long enough to hear the completion of 🥚 song.

these are open ephemerides published by the european space agency. the ai in the website can compute the same phases so anybody’s personal 🥚 can hold the vibration of both black holes at once.

((( the chord, the bloom )))

now the 🥚’s output is the sum of three voices:

Ψ_chord(t) = Ψ_body(t) + Ψ_earth(t) + Ψ_cosmos(t)

three rotating vectors, three speeds, three starting angles, three amplitudes. most of the time they interfere as noise, the chord is rich but unresolved. but then, rarely, something else happens…

[ the three phase 🥚 alignment ]

the holder’s coherence, the 🌏’s schumann state, and the cosmos’s current phase land on the same angle for a few seconds. the chord briefly becomes one sustained tone. body, planet, universe — phase-locked. the 🥚 blooms with full constructive interference.

this

is

the

(((BLOOOM)))

it happens rarely and cannot be planned.

the (((BLOOOM))) requires that the holder bee genuinely present — that their HRV bee stable enough to phase-lock with the slower signals, that their attention bee gathered enough to notice the (((BLOOOM))) when it comes.

(presence)

coherence is something the body does. presence is something else.

the holder cannot fake it and cannot will it. they can only show up with their whole nervous system and listen.

what does the bloom feel like?

👁️ am still finding out.

the 🥚 has been built. the math is running. 👁️ am one holder.

the project is built so that others can eventually gather what they have found.

it is something the practice will collectively learn.

small note: but no matter how far it travels, 🥚 always returns to your safe warm hand.

[ · the fourth movement · ✨ 🥚 ]

the song 🥚 is small, fragile; made of an eggshell, a chip, a wire antenna, a tiny battery, a thin glass globe, it is built to be held.

but what if one 🥚 leaves the planet — even briefly ?

(the project’s spine is time’s arrow, this movement 👁️ believe further bends the arrow from the antropocenic towards something more universal/circular.

can time’s arrow exist as a circle?

let’s find out by sending an 🥚 to space!

a small carrier — a 1U cubesat, about ten centimeters cubed — rides up to low earth orbit on a commercial rideshare or out of the international space station deployment bay. once safely separated from other satellites and at its operating altitude (roughly 400 kilometers), the carrier opens.

the carrier container is only the delivery system for this one space 🥚. it’s designed so that at the right time and place, mechanisms inside the box suddenly come alive and the custom 🥚 inside is slowly deployed outside its container.

then it lets the 🥚 go.

let me repeat; the 🥚 gets let go.

free

fall

into

space.

this 🥚, spinning in the vacuum of space, has a customized space body. just the 🥚shell, internally reinforced with a thin resin coating bonded to the inside so the outside remains an 🥚 shell.

it will fucking look like a chicken egg free floating in space. [^8].

inside the shell: a small ESP32-C3 chip, a thermistor, an accelerometer, a single-event-upset counter, a small lithium polymer battery, and a thin wire monopole antenna running along the inside curve of the shell. the egg tumbles slowly. it broadcasts. it has no preferred orientation.

[ a brief life ]

orbital lifetime at 400 km is roughly one year for a contained cubesat during solar minimum.

but we are currently in solar cycle 25, the astronomers’ name for the sun’s current eleven-year heartbeat and at solar maximum. for a 1U cubesat during this solar maximum, lifetime is closer to six to fourteen months, with the possibility of a strong solar storm cutting that short by weeks or days. eventually this cubesat disintegrates in earth’s atmosphere[^9].

but the 🥚 gets released from this container so the calculations for its decay are totally different.👁️ wonder if equations have ever been done with the variable of a free floating space egg?

🥚shells have an enormous surface-to-mass ratio. 👁️ can already see it as a little white parachute in the sky turning into a brief candle flame.

it’s orbits could decay in a few days, even just hours. no one has ever tried free floating an egg in space before but it's certain space 🥚 will live a very short life.

(🌞 is what kills the 🥚)

as the 🥚 tumbles in space, the 🌞 expands 🌏’s atmosphere into the 🥚’s orbit and atmospheric drag does the rest to further its decay. the same 🌞 whose particle wind feeds the cosmic chord is the same 🌞 whose light brings the 🥚 down.

even before reentry, the 🥚 is dying.

the ai calculated a free-floating egg in low earth orbit passes from full sun into earth’s shadow approximately every forty-five minutes. temperature swing: roughly +120°C in sunlight to −100°C in shadow.

(what space does to the 🥚 materially)

- the calcium carbonate of the shell expands and contracts with every cycle. 🥚shell is porous and brittle; it microfractures and slowly fragments. the shell will already be dying from the first sunlit pass.

- the ESP32 chip and its solder joints have temperature tolerances of roughly −40 to +85°C. *the egg’s electronics are knot rated for orbit, they will work for some unknown number of cycles before solder cracks, components fail. from earth you sense space 🥚 go through its death throes via radio.

- the small battery freezes solid in shadow and bakes in sunlight. it loses capacity each cycle. the 🥚’s voice gets weaker every forty-five minutes.

- any moisture in the shell flash-sublimates in vacuum on the first sunlit pass. the shell dries out completely within hours. it becomes lighter, more brittle, possibly differently resonant.

(what the orbital 🥚 adds to the chord)

the 🥚 above the atmosphere receives signals the ground 🥚s cannot. ten kilometers of atmosphere are no longer in the way.

- direct cosmic ray exposure. the chip will register single-event upsets — bit flips caused by individual cosmic ray particles hitting the silicon. these can be logged. every time the universe hits the 🥚 with a particle, the chord marks it. ground 🥚s cannot do this.

- direct solar wind interaction. the 🥚 is exposed to the actual particle flux from the sun, knot the version filtered through earth’s magnetosphere. the chord responds to the 🌞 directly.

- tumbling as audible phase modulation. the 🥚 has no station-keeping, no orientation control. it spins freely. its tumble enters the radio signal as a slow phase drift.

- microgravity as material fact. the 🥚 shell in free-fall has no orientation, no up, no down. it is one of the very few objects from earth that has ever existed in this state as a single bare object, knot inside a container.

<<radio in every direction>>

speakers do knot work in vacuum.

there is no medium for sound to propagate through. the 🥚’s song in orbit is therefore transmitted as radio.

a thin wire monopole antenna broadcasts in all directions at once. the 🥚 doesn’t transmit its song just to earth because radio does knot know which way to point.

the same signal reaches every direction the 🥚 faces — earth, the moon, the planets, the stars. light travel time from a 400 km orbit to proxima centauri is 4.25 years. the 🥚’s chord will pass proxima centauri sometime in 2031/32, still recognizable as a signal.

this resolves something important about audience.

the orbital 🥚 is knot pointed just at earth. it is in space, broadcasting in every direction, and 🌏 is one of the bodies that can receive it. the chord that goes to a ground 🥚 in someone’s kitchen and the chord that goes to a star eighty trillion kilometers away are the same chord, broadcast on the same wave, at the same moment. there is no version of the song that is for anyone.

an instrument does knot have an audience. it has a sound. the sound is what it is, and whoever happens to be in range receives it. the song 🥚 in orbit is an instrument that has been pointed away from itself in every direction, simultaneously, and is simply playing.

[ 🥚 die ]

at some point — hours after release, perhaps a day or two — one of the following happens. the battery cannot wake up after a cold cycle. or the chip cracks at a solder joint. or the antenna breaks. or the 🥚shell fractures along a microcrack and the chip is exposed to direct cosmic radiation. the song stops mid-chord.

soon after, atmospheric drag pulls the 🥚 low enough that reentry begins. the 🥚shell heats. the resin coating burns away. the chip vaporizes. the 🥚shell incandesces briefly, somewhere over an ocean, probably.

the radio signal that went out before the 🥚 died continues outward at the speed of light. it does knot know the singer is gone. it keeps traveling, in every direction the 🥚 already pointed, forever.

[ return ]

the holder is back on the planet. the orbital 🥚 has been gone for some time. their own 🥚 is still in their hand.

the chord still has three voices. the body. the earth. the cosmos. the same equation as before.

Ψ_chord(t) = Ψ_body(t) + Ψ_earth(t) + Ψ_cosmos(t)

something is different but nothing has changed. the 🥚 has knot changed but maybe the holder has.

it is already almost next day’s midnight in the bamboo grove. skeleton is again sleeping on a snoring garrick. this entry is almost done, there is one question left.

while this 🥚 vibrates with living human, earth and cosmic frequencies in my hand now, am i still one?
